ELLE MAGAZINE NORWAY

In the June edition of ELLE Norway, journalist Petra Middelthon meets Anton Corbijn in Oslo during the Oslo Negativ Photo Festival. Photographed by Björn Wad, the portrait session lasted just five minutes — entirely in keeping with a man who has always worked under pressure and without hesitation.

In the interview, Corbijn reflects on a career spanning more than fifty years: on teaching himself by studying Jim Marshall and Robert Frank, on choosing Morocco over Spain for The Joshua Tree, on why black and white stayed long after he could afford colour. He speaks about style over fashion, presence over perfection, and a philosophy of photography built not on adding — but on removing everything that isn't true.

After more than fifty years behind the camera, he is still looking.
Photographs is on view at Sliperiet, Borgvik, Värmland through 6 September 2026.
