WILLAS contemporary is thrilled to present works by Anton Corbijn from the series #5 and Inwards and Onwards at Oslo Negativ, at The National Gallery in Oslo from October 11th to October 26th, 2025. 

Corbijn, recognized as one of the most influential portrait photographers of his generation, is famed for his evocative black-and-white imagery capturing icons from music, art, and film. Hall 13 of the venerable National Gallery in Oslo will feature a curated selection of Corbijn’s powerful, large-scale portraits – many photographed at close range in intimate studio settings.

 

The exhibition spotlights not just musicians but also acclaimed visual artists, revealing Corbijn’s unique ability to capture the personality and atmosphere of his subjects through his signature lens.Portraits of: Ai Weiwei, Brice Marden, Kiki Smith, Lucien Freud, Marlene Dumas, Richard Prince, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode, Marianne Faithful, Nick Cave, Nirvana, Patti Smith, and Tom Waits.

Anton Corbijn will be present in Oslo for the opening of Oslo Negativ.

Oslo Negativ


Oslo Negativ is a key meeting point for everyone with a passion for photographic art. Between October 11 and 26, the festival will present a curated program of 40 exhibitions, there will be lectures, book signings and discussions. For the first time, the historic halls of the former National Gallery will be dedicated exclusively to photography.
ON is a collaboration between The Möller Collection and Preus Museum.

Opening hours

Festival admission covers all exhibitions and talks. Tickets available at the door or viaTicketmaster.
The café serves food and beverages throughout, with extended hours until 23:00 on Saturdays.
