On October 8th, 2015, WILLAS contemporary opened its doors for the first time with a solo exhibition by legendary Steinar Christensen.

What had began in 2006 as a series of curated pop-up shows has grown into a gallery dedicated to contemporary photography, and to support artists who continue to stretch the boundaries of photography as a medium.

Since then, WILLAS contemporary has organised exhibitions in Stockholm, Oslo, Milan, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, St. Moritz, and many other places, in collaboration with museums and institutions around the world. 

Over the years, we have presented the work of Inka & Niclas, Bryan Adams, Roger Ballen, Nick Brandt, Steinar Christensen, Anton Corbijn, Jeff Cowen, Jean-Michel Fauquet, Lene Marie Fossen, Lisa Holden, Erle M. Kyllingmark, Arno Rafael Minkkinen, James Nachtwey, Jimmy Nelson, Anja Niemi, Matthias Olmeta, Jan C. Schlegel, Helene Schmitz, Vee Speers, Kjell Torriset, Bastiaan Woudt, and others.

From our space at IVAR, in the historic Tändstickspalatset in Stockholm, and our showroom in Oslo, we’ve remained committed to providing a platform for the voices shaping photography today.
